Charming, spacious and welcoming. A true refuge in nature. The house is in excellent condition, well equipped and the owners are very helpful. The place is peaceful, you can see the stars and hear the birds. The terrace is perfect for barbecuing and the salamander keeps the entire accommodation warm. We couldn't ask for better. It's sooo worth it 😊

Thank you very much for the great and relaxing stay in your smart house (clean and providing everything to feel comfortable) in the middle of trees, birds and wonderful nothing else! Special thank for your warm welcome and creative chicken Dinner organisation. It was the last night during our vacation but really wonderful end before going home! ...and it would be definitely worth for another, longer stay next time. Thank you!! Monika and Peter

Its the perfect place for escaping the Chaos of the city. We found them via booking.com, because most of the hotels were booked, and we're so glad we found it that we'll come back next year. First of all, the Contact was quick and nice - They speak perfect english, told exactly were to drive (because the way isn't that easy to find, if you dont know here to go) and the greeting was on of the best we've ever had - as soon as we arrived their dogs came out to welcome us and oh my god - they are so sweet and friendly! At first we didn't even find the time to introduce ourselfs because we were too busy to pet the dogs. I dont know who was more enjoyed - the dogs about us or we about the dogs. At first we were kinda confused because the first impression is really different from all we know - the road looks more like an offroad-rally track, the houses are extremly spread - it doesnt even look like here're tourists. The Houses are offside the city, complety within the nature - they didn't lie when they told me "you won't here anything - except the nature". Imagine, you're driving on peaceful routes within a forest of portugal, far away from every civilation. Suddenly, you turn your car off the road and drive about 1 KM complety straight into the forest. Now imagine, at exactly this point, you start building your house. That's exactly what it feels like to be on Monte Horizonte. Maybe that's the way how they started their business, I dont know? Our house was simple and beautiful - it had much space, the interieur was nice (beds, sofa, TV and stuff), the kitchen was really good, because its bigger than usual and has a full cooking plates, a big freezer, we even had a caranter with glasses to make water with fruits (or in our case sangria) wich was pretty awesome.

Sometimes all of us need some peace & tranquility in our lives and "Monte Horizonte" is the perfect place for both, made attainable by the efforts of Marianne & Bert. The warmth of the Alentejo is matched by the hospitality of our hosts and we hope to visit again sometime soon. Thanks to Bert for his advice of taking us to the lagoon at St. Andre for the birdwatching. What? - No bee-eaters! Até brêve, Steve & Shirley

Marianne, Eline and Bert, We would like to say thank you for a wonderful stay at Monte Horizonte. We love what you have done with the establishment, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mimosa. Our favorite parts were the beautiful interior and the outdoor grill. We appreciated the very warm welcome we received from yourselves as well as Beth and Bob. We look forward to staying here again and to our next visit to this beautiful part of the world. Keith & Sarah

PRIMA!! We komen beslist terug!

Marc

Dear Bert, Marianne and Eline, Our first visit to Portugal was absolutely wonderful. Thankyou all for your warm welcome, friendship and hospitality (where did you hide the sunshine?) The cuckoo and the nightengale, and the toads were very nice and noisy. The most beautiful beaches nearby, and high tide at the lagoon was magical. We have plenty of very happy memories. You have been great. This place is so peaceful, so tasteful. Goddluck and happy retirement. Debbie

Last week was 25-30 degrees, this week chilly and we have had more rain then we have in a month at home! But never mind. We have had a great time and Bert and Marianne have been great fun. Super place, super beaches and super birds (short-toed eagle, bee eater, nightingale all in one day). Thanks for all. And now home to the dry and the warm! Robin

Thank you for all. Mano Lovely place, lovely people, lovely days, lovely snails, lovely rains. Thanks for all and, please, forgive us for our English: it is not our fault, it is the fault of the Spanish politicians and their bad habits about education. Deep in my heart, Laura
